CODES AND CONVENTIONS OF A DIGIPAK

Front Cover - On the front of the album cover will include the artists name and the name of the album. The album cover will either have an illustration of some sort linking it with the artist or a picture of the artist/band. This album cover follows the codes and conventions as it has an image of the artist bold and clear in order for the artists target audience to know this is Rihannas album. The colours used are summery, due to it being released within the summer of last year and also the colours are girly again targeting her target audience of teenage girls. 

Spine Of The Cover -  The spine of the cover includes the artists name and the name of the album in the same font as on the front of the album cover just smaller. It also shows the format of the disk inside of the album case. It will show a DVD logo and a serial code which would define it from every other CD. 

Back Of The Cover - The back of the album cover will include a bar code which is the same with any CD. An parental explicit logo will also be on the back of the cover it could also be displayed on the front sometimes, this is if the language is inappropriate warning parents and people who buy that the language may be explicit for some people. It's used as a type of age restriction logo and will sometimes display what songs are explicit. 

Inside Flaps - The inside will show three or two compartments displaying Images of the artist and using the same theme and colours at the front and back of the album cover or even illustrations. The first compartment will contain a booklet of more images of the artist again using the same colours, themes and illustrations. The booklet sometimes includes lyrics, the song titles, who wrote them, information and about the music company the artist belongs to. The middle compartment known as the second compartment is usually used to hold the disk which holds all the music. The disk will usually display the same colours and themes as the album cover may have the albums title on it and the artist name.  

Sometimes the album can include a DVD which shows special features and extras about the artist and band.
