COSTUME

The costume for our final shoot was again very different to our previous performance costumes in the colours. Me and my other group member Paru suggested our artist to wear an oversized t-shirt as it would give the performance a relaxed, casual feel. We also had our artist wear lace up heels as we were going to get full body shots and close ups of her feet when dancing.

FIFTH SHOOTING

For our fifth shooting the performance shots have to be notably different to our other ones so we have decided to go with a dark theme as our previous ones a quite bright and fun. I hope that these new performance shots are going to be a lot more emotive than the others as these shots will come in when the song is ending which is the turning point in the narrative. I have started looking at gifs and pictures that we can use to project for the final time.

FIFTH SHOOTING

On Monday we have booked out the drama room for last minute shooting. We have decided to film another performance shot because both of our performance shots look quite similar. (The drama room is quite dark so it would create a contrast within the performance shots). I also thought considering I am cinematographer and editor that the new footage would nicely create some diversity within the video and help the bridge in the song seem more apparent.

PROPS

We are shooting the final part of our narrative this weekend and we need to include plane tickets in the music video to signify that the couple are going on their honeymoon so today I decided to take it upon myself and and make some tickets in photoshop.

SECOND SHOOTING

Tomorrow during our media lesson me and my other group members will leave to go to shoot some of the performance shots for our music video. We will go to our group member Paru's house as she has all the necessities we need, including a large white backdrop which is perfect for our projections.

SHOOTING

This weekend me and two of my group members (Sophie and Paru) are going to film a few scenes for our music video. We wanted to get some filming done as soon as possible and thought considering our other group member Zara couldn't attend filming this time due to work, that it would work best if we filmed the scenes that Zara didn't need to be in as she is one of the bridesmaids. Me and Paru will film the narrative parts of our music video and also star in these scenes just as make up artists and hair stylists. Paru will also star in the end of our music video as the brides fiance which we will also film too. As cinematographer, I have organised that we need two camera's and a tripod. I will also set the cameras up on the day and do the majority of the filming.

LOCATION SHOOTING

10 THINGS THAT COULD GO WRONG IN OUR MUSIC VIDEO

1. Miss-communication - Not creating a plan with group members pre filming. Me and my group members should communicate well and have a well thought out plan.

2. Weather - For example if it rains we cannot take the camera outside if we want to shoot outdoors. To prevent this we will have to check the weather prior to filming to make sure it is suitable to film outside if we need to.

3. Lighting - The lighting in the footage might not be up to the standard we want so we will have to do test shots to make sure this isn't a problem.

4. Battery running out on the camera - We will need one or two extra fully charged batteries for our camera so we will not have to wait for the battery we are using to charge up again mid-filming.

5. Full memory on SD card - The SD card running out of memory during filming and loosing some of our footage. To ensure this doesn't happen me and my group should make sure the SD card isn't full and also have a back-up one if we exceed the limit on the one we are using.

6. Performer(s) - We need to make sure that our performer(s) are comfortable and not camera shy as this could ruin the whole feel of the music video as acting is an important contributing factor to a music video narrative.

7. Miming - We need our performer to be able to mime well as the performance may not be believable. To ensure this I think that we need to include this within a test shot to see how well our performer can mime.

8. Mise-En-Scene - Me and my group need to ensure that the area we are filming in fits in with what we want to achieve for our music video including props and costume. I think we considering we are filming pre-wedding that there should be make up, hair styling tools, clothes, chocolates, flowers, champagne etc. Personally, I think that this is one of the main contributing factors for our music videos as it portrays the look we are going for perfectly.

9. Costume - Costume is perhaps one of the most important things in our music video. We have easy access to wedding dresses as our group members mothers have offered to use theirs. If they change their mind we already have a dress that looks like a wedding dress that is short and not the typical style of one, perfect for the runaway bride idea. I also think that because we have bridesmaids in our video that they should wear the same thing - which we will try to achieve when looking into costume.

10. Location - Our locations are quite simple as we know where we want to film; at school (as we have access to the white screen and projections), a house and outside that house. When doing test shots we should make sure the locations look stylistically correct for our music video.

MUSIC VIDEO STYLE

Our music video style is going to be Super 8 footage. We don't have a super 8 camera to achieve this effect however we have knowledge of how to add this effect post-production on final cut pro to our video. Even though the super 8 may make people think this but music video isn't meant to look like it was filmed a long time ago. We want to achieve the vintage affect but still make it modern. The idea came from Lana Del Rey's music videos. Considering everyone in my group is a fan of her she was on of the artists we looked into when we were looking at music videos and we all really liked her style.

NEW NARRATIVE

After receiving our feedback sheets on our music video idea we've decided to change our idea as we had many performance shots and not that much of narrative. Our new narrative idea is our artist Kyla getting ready for her wedding. The wedding won't be traditional so more like a runaway wedding, very basic and fun. We'll include post wedding things so stuff like her and her friends getting ready, doing make up, hair, drinking champagne, dancing etc. We still of course want to include performance shots so we're going to carry on using projections and shots of her on the white bed at the beginning. I said that we should establish the wedding idea at the very beginning so I suggested to my group members that we should include close ups of stuff such as an engagement ring, veil, garter etc. We have began creating a new story board now so our idea is clear.

FEEDBACK ON DIGIPAK/POSTER

These are the feedback sheets from my class from when I showed them my digipak and poster. I've read through them all and taken into account their thoughts and will change certain aspects on my digipak and poster which they have wrote.

FIRST POSTER DRAFT

For my first draft of my poster I decided to make it quite simplistic and not add that much of an effect to it as I didn't want to ruin the quality of the picture that I took. I thought that posters in general should be quite simplistic as to see the writing the posters show, hence my decision to make it quite plain. When I was making my poster I was unsure on where to position my artist, to show her face or to not, so when I presented my digipak and poster to my class showed them both of these posters and more people I spoke to said they prefer the poster with no face. Although the no face isn't conventional to a female music artist (they normally have a close up of their face) it is conventional to the profession of my artist. She is a singer but also a DJ, and DJ's rarely show their face on public things such as album covers or posters.

FIRST DIGIPAK DRAFT

This is my first digipak draft. Already when I was making it I didn't like it as much as I would've wanted as I feel the colours don't match and neither does the writing. I don't really have a house style so I definitely want to work on this digipak a lot more and perfect it also make it a lot neater. However I think I've got a few good starting points like my front cover which I will definitely keep when I work on it again.

MUSIC VIDEO

Our feedback sheets were very helpful and we decided to take on board what our peers said. One of the main things was that we didn't have a storyline in our music video and that it was just a lot of singing and dancing. Although that conveys our genre, we were told having a story line would make the video more interesting as the lyrics of our song are quite repetitive. So me and my group decided to get together and brainstorm ideas to see what we could come up with.

FEEDBACK SHEETS

PITCH

Today me and my group pitched our music video idea the video to the class. We included every bit of information such as background, rise to fame, style etc on our artist and the concept of our music video. We also included audience profiles and the anamatics of our story boards.
